Our story

Arun's story

A closed restaurant, one Omni van, and a Qualis that changed everything. This is how Mr. Gubot actually started.

Arun

Founder — Mr. Gubot

The instinct

It started with a bucket of water and someone else's car

Long before any of this was a company, Arun was the kid watching his uncle wash the family car — the slow passes, the drying cloth, the refusal to leave a single streak behind. He didn't know it yet, but he was studying.

By the time he finished school he was already teaching people twice his age how to drive. Cars, and the patience to explain them to other people, were the two things that came naturally. They would end up defining the next two decades.

The training ground

A corporate career that taught him what customers actually want

After university he built a career abroad in corporate operations, eventually running very nearly every function of a fast-growing startup. He learned how a business scales — and, more importantly, that customer satisfaction is the only engine that keeps it scaling.

At home, his father's interior decoration shop was a daily lesson in thoroughness. And a family friend, Dileep — a car detailer — pulled him into the craft itself: the process, the sequence, the small secrets that separate good detailing from great detailing. It was a part-time interest then. It became the foundation of everything.

Germany

The idea took shape inside a professional detailing company

In Germany, Arun worked in a professional automotive detailing company — hands-on experience with the techniques, processes and standards the industry there is built on. It was his first real look at detailing practised as a profession, not a side service.

That experience shaped a clear vision: why not bring the same level of professional detailing — the same standards — to Kerala? The more he saw, the more the opportunity back home became impossible to ignore.

So he started building the company step by step, taking leaves from his work whenever possible and using that time to develop the business. What began as an idea gradually became a growing company — built through experience, persistence, and one belief: Kerala deserved world-class automotive detailing.

The setback

2018: home again, and a business that didn't make it

Arun returned to India in 2018. What followed was not a straight line. A restaurant venture in Bangalore didn't survive past 2019. He closed it, absorbed the loss, and kept moving.

One van

Mr. Gubot began as a doorstep wash out of a single Omni

No showroom. No team. One Omni van, a doorstep car-wash service, and a name he'd already chosen: Mr. Gubot.

The early years were hard — loan pressure, financial strain, and competitors who would rather he didn't make it. He kept going anyway, for a simple reason: people had already started depending on him.

A local landowner, moved by the persistence he kept watching from the sidelines, backed him with the space to grow.

14 February 2022

The Qualis that changed everything

Not long after, Arun took on a Qualis belonging to former MLA Mr. Ganesh Kumar — a well-known public figure in Kerala. It was the kind of job you either get right or never live down.

When the restored car was revealed on 14 February 2022, the response was overwhelming. That reveal was the turning point.

The word spreads

Four videos, and a city that suddenly knew the name

A local influencer, Anshaad Naasad, offered to film Mr. Gubot's work for free. Four videos — and a reach neither of them had planned for. Word moved faster than any advertising could have, and Mr. Gubot began growing rapidly across Kollam.

Today

Three showrooms, and the next chapter already under construction

Three years after that Qualis was revealed, Mr. Gubot opened its third showroom — an exclusive PPF store in Kallumthazham, Kollam.

The company that started in one van now protects and restores cars for clients across five-plus countries. And it is preparing to open in Kottayam — set to be its largest facility yet.

Which is the real point of this story: the reason to trust Mr. Gubot with your car isn't the equipment. It's the person who built the standard, one car at a time, when nobody was watching.
